MoH Takes Action to Prevent AH1N1
The Ministry of Health (MoH) is now taking action to prevent the spread of AH1N1 from other countries while the disease is now the main concern of the world.
According to the press release of MoH, it is said that Cambodia has increased its surveillance for unusual respiration illness in hospitals, health centre and airport.

WHO director- General Doctor Magaret Chan declared the situation as the public health emergency of international concern. As suggested by the WHO, the MoH has issued temporary advice to enhance surveillance. Medical clinics are asked to immediately report any unusual influenza like illness cases in the MoH.
For people who have just returning from other counties, if they have developed a fever of 38 degrees or more, along with cough, sore throat, or shortness of breath, please contact their health clinic, the ministry declared.
According to the final press release of Ministry of Health in Cambodia, it is said that the MoH would like to inform people in Cambodia to cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or elbow. People have to wash their hands with soap as many times as possible. In addition, they should not spit in the public.
Mike O’Leary said that the machine that is used to scan at the airport is now using. He said “It is used to scan only fever but not that kind of flu.”
Until now, there is no AH1N1 case happened in Cambodia, yet the MoH of Cambodia was informed by Korea embassy that there were 3 people who traveled from U.S. to Korea. After that those people flew to Phnom Penh on Sunday 17 May 2009. The Embassy declared that the people contact AH1N1. However, they don’t have that AH1N1 after the blood testing.
There are 69 countries have officially reported 21,940 cases of influenza A(H1N1) infection, including 125 deaths, according to WHO press release on 5 June 2009.
Van Nath: Khmer Rouge Tribunal is Important for Me
Phnom Penh, 23 May- Despite apparently slow progress in the trial of Kaing Guech Eav, survivors of S-21 prison say the proceeding remain important to them and the participation of foreigners helps make fair trial standards.
“Only the Khmer Rouge Tribunal (KRT) can seek for fairness for me as well as other survivors,” said Van Nath, a famous Toulsleng prison survivor. He also appreciates the KRT that he is happy and it is good that we have both Khmer and foreigners are working together at the trial.”We have both foreigners and Cambodian. I think that they will effectively work to seek for fairness for me as well as other survivors, “he said.
Norl Chanphal, 41, also said “Khmer Rouge Tribunal is important to my life”. Norl Chanphal, a survivors whose parents were killed in Toul Sleng prison when he was only nine years old, he added “I am happy that the court is now trying to find fairness for survivors like me as well as other people.”
The Extraordinary Chambers in the courts of Cambodia (ECCC) is supported by donors. Norl Chanphal also expresses his deep thanks to donors that support the KRT. “If there are not donors supporting KRT, we won’t have today,” he said.
ECCC spokesman said “the important thing is that now we have five suspects in the Tribunal. We are now the progress of working on Duch trial. Until now, there are more than 30,000 visitors who visit the trial at the court and there are 3,500 lawsuits have been submitted to the court. We will have finished the trial of the Khmer Rouge Leader by the beginning of next year.”
