GERES scientist say that wood burning worldwide is responsible for 18 percent of the global warming. This mini-documentary is to show that using firewood and charcoal in Cambodia, too, have their impact on global warming. A 2008 joint study by the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy, UNDP and GERES states that 300,000 tons of wood have been used to produce charcoal in the country. The study also reveals that the use of charcoal in Phnom Penh is going to double by 2015. However, the government of Cambodia never has revealed any statistic about firewood use for cooking in Cambodia — a common practice for many households.
